HAPPY WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH!!!

I particularly love the theme of 2023 Women's Day, “DigitALL: Innovation And Technology For Gender Equality”, because it is focused on bridging the digital gender gap, giving women an opportunity in tech and protecting women already in tech.

Growing up, the common belief was that computer use and computer science are for guys. It was rare to see a lady say, “I want to study technology or computer science”. The ideology that computers and technology were for boys somehow stuck with me as a girl child and I avoided the desktop at home neither did I show interest in it. I preferred to do house chores and watch mummy in the kitchen (lol, it was compulsory for me though).

Besides the computer science subject I was taught in primary school and computer studies in secondary school, I did not pay other attention to computer knowledge. Recently, I got my own PC and I realized how society made me miss learning how to use a system as a girl child. I didn’t concentrate on it because the notion was that, it was a “boy’s thing”.

Now, I see ladies in the tech space, and I envy the younger females in this generation. During my time, it wasn’t like this. I can only imagine the opportunities women are missing because of exclusion from digital spaces. So this is me encouraging you all beautiful ladies to OCCUPY SPACES, especially in the digital world. It is not a “boy’s thing”. It is for everyone!

We join women around the world to advocate DigitALL.
